While skidding after hitting rock bottom, the Astros have finally broken their nine game losing streak, and in excellent fashion, flexing their offensive muscles, taking advantage of miscues from the Brewers.
The Astros were able to capitalize on having Zack Greinke ejected after only throwing four pitches — ejected after spiking the ball following a close play at first base. The Astros were able to score six runs on the Brewers’ bullpen, giving Wandy Rodriguez the win.
A much needed win for an Astros team who just finished getting swept in back-to-back series against Chicago and Pittsburgh, the win is a much needed moral boost for all of the players, and the players showed it.
Jordan Schafer tweeted: “Finally a W!!!!!!”
Reliever Wesley Wright tweeted: “Celebration is in order the streak is over. I even went with the high socks look just to try something different and it worked” he also sent another tweet saying “Wandy was Wandy gave us everything we needed to get the W and we were able to hang on and close it out.”
A huge moral boost for the team heading into the All-Star Break, the break could not have come at a better time for the Astros, it should serve as a few days to recharge their mental batteries and wipe their pallet clean of the sloppy first half and go forward with a positive outlook towards the rest of the season.
